Cinefest

Every year, the Syracuse Cinephile Society puts on 4 days of films at a local hotel and historic theatre. I don't always go, but I'm going this year, and looking forward to seeing the likes of Joe E. Brown, John Wayne, Abbott and Costello, Boston Blackie and Charlie Chan. I even wrote a little post for the George Eastman House blog about films that GEH is supplying for the festival. If you're interested in the blog post, you can read it here; if you're interested in the complete schedule, you can see it here.

Justified

I am unnaturally excited about the F/X premiere of the new show JUSTIFIED. It's about lawman Raylan Givens returning to his Kentucky home to take care of business. As usual with F/X, there is some network incestry, as the series stars Timothy Olyphant, who appeared on DAMAGES last season, not to mention DEADWOOD, and the fantastic Walton Goggins, who was so good as Shane Vendrell on THE SHIELD. The character is based on the writing of Elmore Leonard, which doesn't hurt. If it's on Hulu, I'll definitely post links here. Meanwhile, here's a sneak peek:

Human Target 1.5

My wife watched this episode with me. She accused me of wanting to be Indiana Jones: that roguish, good-looking, smart, funny, capable but unavailable hero. That, or Magnum. I'll take it.

Human Target 1.4

Chance has to rescue an ex-con from a remote Quebec monastery before his ex-partner (William Mapother) and a band of mercenaries kill him and steal a $4 million artifact. Where else can you find this kind of stuff?
